Stories of joy, care, and community New

L’Chaim has supported our community for 40 years. It is a place where seniors find friendship, purpose, and comfort, and a source of relief and support for their caregivers. Every family has a story. Here are two of them.

Your support helps create moments filled with connection, dignity, and hope.

Heidi and Robin's story

“I see my mother shining here.”

When Heidi moved her mother Robin to a new neighbourhood, everything felt unfamiliar and quiet. A public health nurse suggested L’Chaim. The moment they visited, they felt the warmth of the place.

Robin started coming a couple of times a week and soon wanted to come every day. She loved the music, the laughter, and the thoughtful activities that always felt fresh and engaging.

For Heidi, the impact has been life-changing.

“I felt a relief knowing that I could bring my mom somewhere that was meaningful for her. This has really enriched my life because it means that I know my mom is having a great day while I go to work”

Karon and Stan's story

“L’Chaim has been a blessing. Not a blessing in disguise but a real blessing.”

Karon’s husband Stan is a brilliant engineer, musician, and former university lecturer who now lives with dementia. Finding L’Chaim brought relief and comfort to both of them.

From the first day, Stan felt engaged and valued. He enjoyed the structure, the stimulation, and the friendly community.

“He said it’s a wonderful program and extremely well organized… It helps him work his brain […] he wakes up here”

For Karon, L’Chaim provides the freedom to run errands or take a break, knowing that her husband is safe and cared for.

“This is an amazing, fantastic cause and it could very much personally benefit you”
